About

It’s here! Our new inspirational blog from St. Dominic Catholic Parish. the ROCK. Thanks for stopping by for a look.

The goal of our blog is very simple: to inspire you, to guide you, to make you think, to help you grow closer to God and to share ways to put your faith into action.

We have some very talented people ready to share their insights on living a Christian life in the 21st Century. Now, that can be a difficult task in this very complex world, but, with a bit of divine intervention, all of our writers are up for the challenge.

A big part of our future success will be driven by you. We’d love to hear your insights, ideas and your unique perspective. We’ll be asking for your input on a regular basis. Please be brave enough to share it!

TheROCKWhy are we calling our blog, the ROCK?
Well, a rock can be many things to many people. We often hear people say, “Joan is my rock. She’s always there for me. Always standing by my side.”
We want to be there for you
.

We also hear a rock referenced as a foundation, a starting point for building.
We want to offer you a simple foundation, something that inspires you to expand and build your faith.

Luke mentions the rock in his gospel:
“I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them. That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well-built.” Luke 6: 47-48
Are you ready to build your house?

Matthew mentions the rock in his gospel:
“…you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church…” Matthew 18:18
How are you building His church?

So, let’s journey together in our daily walk of faith. Let’s learn a bit about each other and share ways that we can all truly grow to be rock-solid in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

We’re on our way to seek Christ, know Christ, and become Christ, each one for the sake of all.

  1. We must be there for each other on a daily basis, in good times and in bad. Just like a marriage! Even a smile or a pleasant comment to a stranger can be so uplifting. No one knows what burdens or trials others are enduring, so kindness and patience (even when waiting in line or driving) are so necessary to be more Christ-like.

  2. I like the idea of a blogging site, and the “Rock” is a good title. Like Kathy indicated in her post, we must be there for each other as our Parish Mission Statement proclaims. The blog is a very good, simple, and modern way for parishioners to be there for each other. One person may be able to help someone with a concern or problem, because they may have gone through it themselves.
I am looking forward to following the Rock and see how it develops. Good work!
